Site Update: New Year Resolutions 2014

Hey Sinners and Happy New Year to all!

I hope you all had wonderful holidays. So I understand that there was a huge site lapse between April - August of 2013, that was due to a job I had acquired. My hours flip flopped around for a bit and I found it very hard to find time to actually get any reviews done with a full 40 hour a week workload while still needing time to relax, indulge in other hobbies and spend time with friends and family. But I did it, and I'm still continuing to do it although the holidays put a strain on my limit of free time.

So with this, my resolution for Volumes of Sin for 2014 is to get tons of reviews done. I'm aiming for five a week, but no less than three per week.

My secondary resolution is to get more band submitted material done. I apologize if you're one of the bands who submitted content to me and I have not gotten to it. Don't think it's because I didn't enjoy your material, I most likely did not even get a chance to hear it. 2013 was a rough and busy year for me, and I didn't even get around to listening to most albums that I wanted to hear in my spare time let alone all the content that stacked up in my inbox.

My third resolution is to be more consistent in updating news, streams and the slider. Yes, I know... the slider is very old right now. It's a bitch to update and I put it off a lot. I gotta stop doing it.

My fourth and final resolution is to expand. Expand what? Well, everything. In the coming year you will see more of my concert videos and photography make an appearance, you will also see my collection pop up (everything from CDs to vinyl to shirts), and I really want to focus on expanding my review catalog of older material. In 2014 I will be aiming for releases from the 1970's to early 1990's and hopefully will be going via discography of whatever band I feel like. Though don't think this cuts out recent releases, I will be aiming for the big releases of 2014 as well as those that I feel may be interesting. It has come down to selection lately. When I first began this site I took on anything and everything that came my way... I still try to, but lets face it. At last count my PR list was around 30 companies. Some of these companies distribute for bands with genres that don't quite fit the site. Some of these PRs also don't distribute my content. So I have to become moderately selective if I want to get to everyone in some way.

So enjoy your New Year and your holiday gifts! Thank you for sticking around.
