After releasing their first EP of the year, Die Choking have found themselves as the first band on the roster of the new Earsplit PR label, The Compound. Later in 2014, The Compound ultimately ended up re-releasing the Pennsylvania trio's debut EP and have now issued their second EP of the year, simply titled II.

A much more diversified experience from their initial self-titled EP, II is a more grindcore oriented piece than their previous effort. This title also offers up five tracks of blitzkrieg chaos that flies by in a matter of minutes, though this time around some tracks incorporate distinctive, slow grooves; such as the old death metal ritual during "Civilian", before the track erupts for a few seconds of frenzied riffs and drumming. "Non-Yielder" also has a good stop/go composition, where the track slows down and speeds up throughout the abundance of structures that are contained in its short duration.

Despite its extremely short duration, Die Choking have once again given more diversity within the five minutes that II exists than some bands do in an entire 45 minute full-length. There are blitzing grindcore compositions, mingled with a bit of death and thrash metal, though ultimately what exists is something unique to the band. In the belief that everyone can spare five minutes, definitely check this one out and spin it a few times to fully absorb the impact.
